The "Samuroid", as it turns out, was controlled by an extremely intelligent man in a super-powered wheelchair, whose plan was to pull the Flash for his next schemes. Caitlin joins the Flash team, but it is revealed that she worked for the gangster Amunet Black, and also continued to prevent the identity of Frost's Killer from appearing. The plan works, and Barry races away, rescuing Iris and defeating the samurai, who turns out to be an android.
In an attempt to restore Barry's memories, Iris gives herself to a samurai. With The Fastest Man Alive now trapped inside an extra-dimensional energy, and unknown dangers lurking in the shadows, it will be up to Team Flash to free Barry from his own personal Hell in Season 4. Cisco decrypts Barry's notes and finds an apparently meaningless sentence. The Flash’s victory over Savitar last season was short-lived, as an unbalanced Speed Force began to wreak havoc on Central City, forcing Barry to sacrifice himself for the greater good. Wally engages the samurai in battle, but is defeated. Contrary to Iris ' orders, the Flash team successfully returns Barry, who mutters random statements and constantly writes symbols on the walls. Cisco reveals that he has formulated a way to get Barry back without destabilizing the Speed Force, and tracks down Caitlin for help, but Iris forbids him to get Barry back. A flying samurai with superpowers appears in the Central City, threatening to destroy the city if the real Flash does not meet him face to face. Iris has been helping the Flash team in Central City for six months, but refuses to upset Barry.
